How do you start life all over again at a time of pandemic?
Is it possible to find purpose and fulfilment without conforming to society’s definition of “success” and begin to ask what a meaningful life looks like on your terms?
During the lockdown, instead of being anxious about the situation, one of the ways I entertained myself was by reading Kay Fabella, a Filipina millennial based in Spain who had a major burnout from corporate work, took a sabbatical year and rewrote her life according to her terms
According to her book, Rewrite Your Story, rewriting your story won’t be easy but you can start by learning how to love and accept who you are while becoming the person you were meant to be.
RECOVER
Start the process of recovery by moving from blaming yourself to figuring out where you’d like to go from here. Identify what got you to this point, what your future life looks like for you and start the road to recovery.
RECLAIM
To know where you’re going, you need to redefine what living a fulfilled life is and to figure out what brings you joy, not just happiness.
I had a personal meltdown in 2014 and one of the things I had to learn was how to put healthy boundaries in my home and work life. A good starting point is learning how to say no.
Many people miss this essential of wellbeing – cultivate healthy self-care practices and tune into what you wanted to create a life on your terms.
REWRITE
So you’re on your way to making a change and creating a life that feels aligned with who you are. But what happens when you run into roadblocks and resistance? Learn how to love and accept who you are and who you’re on your way to becoming.
